Willie “Casper” Perry is an on air personality on Chicago’s V103. He is known as Casper because he almost always wears white clothing on stage. His first hit single Casper Slide Part 1 also known as the “Cha Cha Slide” was originally created for a personal trainer at a Bally Fitness in 1996 which then grew in popularity as an aerobic exercise at fitness clubs. It was in the year 2000 when Willie Perry Jr. then created a second song titled Casper Slide Pt. 2 and that’s when Chicago’s WGCI-FM radio station picked it up. The song became a hit in Chicago by the year 2004, that’s when city’s M.O.B. Records record label became involved as well, helping Casper create a whole album with other Chicago based artist to promote the dance. “Cha Cha Slide” was then later picked up by Universal Records. Since then it has been a staple on the dance floor.
